~~What if it allowed you shed pounds week after week? Without starvation dieting or exercise…? Uhhhh Sign me up!

…..After doing me research I found out the answers to what we are all asking, “How?”, let me share them with you…..

Using soups to your advantage in the following manner is not a diet – but instead a dose of “Energy Inducing Nutrition”.

5 Ways –The Right Soup – Can Help You Lose Weight

Soup1.) Thermogenics

Lets get all sciencey first… What is Thermogenics? The energy your body uses to digest food is known as thermogenesis, also known as the thermic effect of food (TEF).  To make it simple, when your body is in digestion mode, your core temperature increases (thermal) and this in turn burns calories (YAY!). The secret to making soup thermogenic is to use a combination of natural fat burning ingredients that naturally speed up your metabolism and burn calories. Such ingredients will increase your metabolism and turn you into a fat burning machine!

veggie soup2.) Reduced Calories AND Not Feeling Hungry

Good soup recipes are usually much lower in calories than a full plate of food. That’s because many of them will contain water rich foods which help keep you hydrated and more satisfied, these types of foods are naturally lower in calories. In a study published in the journal Appetite in 2007, 60 normal-weight adults received a “pre-load” of low-calorie soup before lunch for five weeks. After the soup, they were served their main meal. In the group that ate their soup first, researchers found that the subjects consumed 20% fewer calories at that particular meal — and because the soup was low-calorie, they reduced their caloric intake overall. The conclusion was that adding soup to your diet can be an effective means of curbing calories. In a nutshell, making it a meal or opting for soup as a starter when trying to lose weight will help you to eat less of the main course – and filling you up so you don’t have room for dessert.

Soup recipe3.) You Generally Eat Slower and Feel Full Faster

Having soup before your meal may also force you to slow down (assuming you aren’t guzzling your soup like a 5 year old drinks it’s milk from their cereal bowl). Slower eating is another technique shown to reduce overall food intake. The main reason behind this is found in the brain – you generally are full much sooner than you realize, but it takes time for your brain to get the signal and react by telling you to stop eating. You are sure to slow down the eating process by eating spoon by spoon and since soup is easier to digest the signal to your brain will generally happen much faster.

Satisying soups4.) Soup Is Simply Filling

Here is something very interesting. We are all told to drink water before a meal right? This method is highly reccomended and although effective, I find it to be short lived. This technique is better with soup! Why? You definitely always want to stay hydrated but having your “water” from a source like soup instead increases satiety (feeling of fullness). It’s thought that when water is consumed separately from food it satisfies thirst not hunger. But when it’s mixed with chunky ingredients, the body handles water like food. It’s like a 2 for 1 deal. 🙂

In a study from Pennsylvania State University, researchers asked women to eat 1 of 3 things: chicken casserole, chicken casserole with a glass of water, or chicken casserole with the same amount of water added to make a soup. They were then allowed to eat whatever they liked for lunch. The women who ate the soup consumed about 100 fewer calories at lunchtime – that’s enough to unload 10lb in a year! The best part is they also didn’t compensate by eating more during the rest of the day. Score!

Satisfy cravings with soup5.) It’s a Delicious Way to Add in Healthy Foods Your May Not Otherwise Eat

Let’s be honest sometimes it can be hard to eat a lot of veggies, but eating soup can seriously help in this area. Veggies can be masked with other flavors and foods to make it much easier to get in those 5 cups of vegetables a day! You can also satisfy cravings with soups by making them nutrient dense, and by healthifying some of your favorite comfort foods.
